چکیده

design space exploration, VLIW, systolic array, cache This paper addresses the problem of automated design of a computer system for an embedded application. The computer system to be designed consists of a VLIW processor and/or a customized systolic array, along with a cache subsystem comprising a data cache, instruction cache and second-level unified cache. Several algorithms for "walking" the design space are described, and experimental results of custom designed systems for two applications are presented.

Automated Design Space Exploration on System Level for Embedded Systems

The design of embedded systems has to address several interacting design dimensions to implement parallelism, distribution over different locations, hard real-time requirements and design space exploration today. Thus a structured design process has to deal with heterogeneous requirements and restrictions. The integration of dedicated tasks for HW-design and SW-design as well as real-time opera...

Developing an ESL Design Flow and Integrating Design Space Exploration for Embedded Systems

This paper introduces a systematic development of design flows for embedded systems. The idea of an executable design flow provides a basis for the design automation starting at system level. The aim is to develop, manage and optimize design flows more efficiently. A seamless integration of design space exploration into a design flow is presented coping with the conflicting design goals of embe...

The COMPLEX methodology for UML/MARTE Modeling and design space exploration of embedded systems

The design of embedded systems is being challenged by their growing complexity and tight performance requirements. This paper presents the COMPLEX UML/MARTE Design Space Exploration methodology, an approach based on a novel combination of Model Driven Engineering (MDE), Electronic System Level (ESL) and design exploration technologies. The proposed framework enables capturing the set of possibl...
